This solar system hangs from the ceiling of the west wing of the University of Alberta's Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science.
This is one of several installations exhibiting some of the science and research taking place in the Faculty of Science. The scale model of the solar system depicts the location of the planets on September 23, 2008, the 100th anniversary of the University of Alberta. There are three different length scales used in this installation to accommodate the space available. The distances between the planets and the Sun are all to the same scale. The sizes of the planets (and their rights) are to a different scale where the planets have been made larger to improve visibility.
