Le village est situé à proximité de la Forêt de Chaux.

[EN] From its past as a fortified village flourishing in the Middle Ages, Rochefort-sur-Nenon has retained the vestiges of the old castle of the XIIIth century which dominates the village, offering a superb panorama then this fortified door of rectangular plan dating from the fourteenth century.
A high tower, with a four-sided roof, its semicircular passage in the direction of the towpath, allows a bucolic walk between the banks of the Doubs and the canal du Rhin to the Rhone.
