Broken column headstones are not very common in Wisconsin, but this one captures two lives that were cut short. The first life that was captures in this great headstone was that of Franklin H. Mosely. He was born in 1853 and passed away in 1868. This area was known as some of the most difficult pioneer land to settle and often the victims were children. In this case this was the teenage son of William H. Mosely. Three years later Mr. Mosely would seen a second child die in when Georgie passed away at the age of nine. Both names and inscriptions were added to one side of the monument. Franklin's name and other inscriptions are above Georgie's. Both inscriptions are well faded, but their names can be made out. They were interred in the Southwest section of Woodlawn Cemetery in Sparta, WI. In 1911, there brother was added to the monument when he passed away at the age of 70. His name was inscribed on the opposite side from his siblings in a very crude manner. The chiseled name does not match the fine detail found with his sibling's inscriptions.
