Santa Fe 1479 was built by Budd in 1937, part of an order of 11 such cars. It was originally configured as a 36-seat diner and saw service as such until 1961, when it was converted to a 46-seat diner.
Santa Fe 1479 remained in service until sold to Amtrak in 1971. However, it was apparently retired without ever serving on Amtrak. It is now part of the Children's Museum of Utica collection.
