En forme de tour, le château d'eau culmine à 50 m de hauteur avec une cuve supérieure qui contient un réservoir d’une capacité de 500 m3, toujours en fonction. On peut distinguer 3 parties :
- le fût circulaire
- le couronnement en poivrière
- la cuve en encorbellement contenant un réservoir
Il présente de nombreuses similitudes avec le château d'eau de Deventer (WM3W4W) aux Pays-Bas érigé en 1893, dont il s’inspire.
Les matériaux utilisés pour la construction du château sont propres à ceux la révolution industrielle. L'alliance de fer et de béton a permis la création de volumes importants tout en garantissant l'étanchéité et la longévité du bâtiment. Quant aux briques qui parent l'édifice, leur emploi est également caractéristique de cette époque.
Au sommet du château trônait à l’origine un aigle, symbole de l'Empire allemand. Celui-ci est remplacé par un coq gaulois de 1918 à 1940. Depuis cette date, le sommet est resté vide.
In the shape of tower, the water tower peaks in 50m of height with a superior tank which contains a reservoir of a capacity of 500m3, always in function. We can distinguish 3 parts :
- The circular barrel
- The crowning in pepperpot
- The tank in corbelled construction containing a reservoir
It presents numerous similarities with water tower of Deventer (WM3W4W) in the Netherlands set up as 1893, by which it is inspired.
Materials used for the construction of the tower are appropriate to those the industrial revolution. The concrete and iron alliance allowed the creation of important volumes while guaranteeing the waterproofness and the longevity of the building. As for the bricks which adorn the building, their use is also characteristic of this period.
At the top of the castle throned originally an eagle, a symbol of the German Empire. This one is replaced by a Gallic cock from 1918 till 1940. Since this date, the summit remained empty.
