"El Sombrero Patio Cafe was established by Ofelia Carrillo in 1956. The original cafe was located at 425 N. Church St. which is adjacent to the Las Cruces Post Office. Mrs. Carrillo and her husband, Sammy Carrillo, also owned and ran Carrillo’s Plumbing and Heating, which was located where the Las Cruces Post Office is now. She continued both businesses while raising 2 children.

Mrs. Carrillo pioneered 40 years in the restaurant business with her daughter, Patricia (Pat) Crawley at her side. They both saw and experienced the many changes in the restaurant business and have prospered with the ever changing future of the food industry." (visit link)
