This is a square steel post embedded and concreted into the Hawkesbury sandstone of the steep-sided ridge. The plastic upper post has been broken off.
The GCA site: (
visit link) has an Additional Hint on how to find the Name Plate!
It also has a mention of a 'track' off McCarrs Creek Road; as the bush had been burnt out quite recently (Nov '16) I headed straight up and it would have been wise to take the track. From the west it is probably a T4, or T4½ rock scramble up, but there is an easier way from the eastern side.
From Tony Dawson's book (2007), "Guide to the Historic Trigonometrical Stations of Sydney's North", the steel post trig was installed in 1973; with the original stone cairn, just to the north of the post, built in 1882.
This is a trig that I have visited a few times: 1983, 2014, and this month.
