Though unexpected we discovered this Coca Cola vending machine tucked in a corner of a small plaza. It is most likely from the last 1940s to early 1950s.
There are 10 bottle receptacles on the front, right side which seems to be more rare as most were on the left side (as you are looking at it). What makes this one a little more unusual; it is all red not like the more common vending machines of that era that have a white upper portion. This one does not appear to have had the more typical boy drinking Coca Cola decal on the front.
I looked for the serial number, however I was unable to find it. The coin receptacle instruction plaque is badly scratched but legible. Overall it is in fairly good condition and did not appear to be repainted or restored.
Cute, there are numbered instruction:
1. Deposit Dime or Two Nickels
2. Press Handle Down – Release
3. Open Door – Remove Bottle
The bottle cap opener is just below the handle.
Republic is an interesting small town, though it is the county seat of Ferry County. A few years back the town council adopted a western theme and encouraged businesses to participate. This was instituted to attract visitors to the area.
Great old wringer washing machine, probably 1940's also.
