"Das Wasser dieses Brunnens galt als besonders rein und wurde früher von den Oberurseler Familien zum Reinigen der Wäsche benutzt. Noch bis in die 50er Jahre diente er diesem Zweck. Die Wäsche trocknete man dann auf der nahegelegenen „Bleiche“.
Im Jahr 1979 zum 1. Oberurseler Brunnenfest wurde der alte Brunnen abgetragen und ein neuer mit der Brunnenfigur „Die Wäschfraa“ des Oberurseler Künstlers Georg Hieronymi eingeweiht.""
