[EN] The fountain is in front of the home of the Fund, to the culmination of the street Porteaux, below the hill of Caillaud. The fountain itself is topped by a stone in entrance building, with metal mechanism. It is surrounded by seven water troughs or "stamps" monoliths in stone.

The fountain in the background is on a Talmont plan in 1706, drawn by the engineer Claude Masse. It is described there as "fountain and then sweet." In his writings accompanying its maps, Mass evokes this fountain, the only source of fresh water from Talmont. The fountain then appears on the cadastral map of 1831. The pump-and drinkers have apparently been installed in 1868. Until the establishment of the water supply, the fountain was the only source of water drinking town, wells providing only brackish water. The pumping system, first rocker, then including a wheel. Le système de pompage, d'abord à balancier, a compris ensuite une roue. Des canalisations en bois distribuaient l'eau vers les timbres. En haut de la pompe, une autre tuyauterie permettait de remplir les fûts dans des charrettes.
