Trier is easily accessible by train.
The Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) is about a 10 minute walk from the Porta Nigra and the city center.
Every day there are frequent direct connections with the following cities: Koblenz (hourly express train or IC and one local train); Luxembourg (every hour); Saarbrücken (Every hour an express train) and Cologne main station (every two hours an express train IC via Koblenz via Gerolstein and every two hours).
