Loch Rannoch is situated in the Scottish Highlands near the geographical centre of the country. It is ten miles in length running from the village of Kinloch Rannoch in the east to Bridge of Gaur in the remote country of the west. It is completely encircled by a road, the B846 runs along the north shore and a minor road along the south with various parking places en-route. Brown trout is the most prevalent species of fish and fishing is available on the loch with a permit. The mountain of Schiehallion is prominent in views towards the eastern end of the loch.
