Neverland was opened by councillor Ian Mackintosh in 2010 as part of a £350,000 project commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of J M Barrie, the novelist and playwright and creator of Peter Pan, who was born in the Scottish town of Kirriemuir. The park lies on The Hill close to The Pavilion which Barrie gifted to the town. Among the attractions are rides themed on Peter Pan, Captain Hook and a crocodile. There is a Lost Boys hideout, a pirate ship and an aerial slide.
