The church's
Facebook page notes that it was founded in 1862, but neither the page nor their website provide any history. Initally called "Theodore," a name that still survives on maps, Dixie began life right after the Civil War, getting its name and a post office in 1886. The post office was dissolved in 1902, and their school merged with the Whitesboro schools in the 1940s. Visitors to Don's Barbecue here in town can see a few photos of the old school from back in the day.
