This statue of the color bearer stands atop a large pillar at the south end of Meadvilles Diamond Park. He faces south, as if keeping watch for the confederate army.
The pillar has an octagonal section, with an impression on each panel. (shown in photos, see gallery)
There are a pair of cannons, and a "pyramid" of shot in front of the pedestal, also guarding south. Very few children, if any, have visited this park and not clambered upon the cannons, climbed the balls, and attempted to scale the statue.
