Since it was the only thing available, surveyors used this power pole as a witness post to mark the West Quarter Corner on Section 24.

This part of Water Street is not used as much as downtown, but still it is very difficult to mark for surveying. The surveyors did what they've done for hundreds of years and used what is available. This power pole witness post is on the East side of Water Street close to Howard Huff Park. The best way to get to it is to park of the side of the road next to Howard Huff and walk South along the sidewalk towards the power pole.
