Lake Placid may well be the last city in the USA to get a Starbucks (not really, but close), it opened in the summer of 2006. It is located in the center of town at about the midpoint of Main Street. The next closest Starbucks is about 50 miles to the North.
Lake Placid is a gorgeous spot to visit at any time of the year, with lots of outdoor activities to engage in with people of all ages. There is lots of great geocaching in the area, as well as almost limitless hiking, biking, and paddling opportunities. The 1932 and 1980 Olympics were held in Lake Placid.
This is the 1st Starbucks waymark listed on the waymarking.com website...hopefully there will be many more listed in the near future so that I can find Starbucks while on the road.
Hours of Operation: 7am to 10pm daily
Physical Address: 90 Main Street
Lake Placid, NY 12946
Wifi Access: Not listed
Relative Size & Amenities: This Starbucks is about 20' by 60', with wooden chairs and tables up front, a bar with stools along the coffee machines, and some comfy chairs in the back next to a fireplace. It overlooks a busy thoroughfare in a quaint little town.
Food and/or Lunch Available: Snacks and juices are for sale, but no real lunch menu.
Review: I've been 3 times, and had great visits each time. The staff is quick and courteous. The coffee is hot and strong and has a great head of foam (yes, I like the silly european lattes...I take mine with vanilla). I had a brownie during one of my visits that was exquisite. The place is clean, sugar and creamers are kept well-stocked, and the bathrooms are big, well-lit, and very clean.
Drive-Thru: Not listed
