The Hendrickson-Caskey House, a board and batten vernacular home, was on the tax records by 1871 and was built by John Hendrickson, a master stone and brick mason who worked on the construction of the first Texas State Capitol. The house was home to the Caskey Family from 1875 to 1909. When W. J. and Rebecca Caskey died in 1909, the house was purchased by the Baptist Church of Salado for their first Parsonage. In 1912 the Baptist Church donated 2 corners of the property for the "Middle Buster Railroad" which was never built, much to the sorrow of the local citizens. Some of the dirt work done for its construction is still visible at various sites in Salado.
