Mt Zion traces its roots to about 1740, when a log cabin was used. By the 1750's the French Indian War had settled, and huge tracts of land were bought by English settlers. This necessitated construction of a larger facility. Rumour has it that George Washington attended services here in 1784.

The current brick and wood structure was completed in 1818/19 and has been in use since. It is listed as a contributing building in the Hedgesville Historic District.

Services are held at 11:00.
