Ocala Drive In Theatre & Flea Market.
"The Ocala Drive-In located off U.S. 441 opened in 1948 and had a capacity for up to 300 cars. During that time, there were over 5,000 drive-ins in the United States, with 48 located within 100 miles of Ocala. According to an article on Ocala.com, the Ocala Drive-In was previously referred to as Dyers Drive-In, but there is no proof and no recollection that it was named that.
"The theater was operated by George Tomlinson from 1979 to 2002, after acquiring the property after his father past away. In 2003, the property was leased and operated by another individual, but after some financial difficulties, the theater officially closed in 2007.
In 2010, the theater was bought by John and Charles Watzke with the initial plan of opening it in December 2010. The theater would have 150 spaces for cars that would use speakers and an additional 400 spaces where the audio would be picked up by FM signals." Text Source: (
