Durch den Streifzug über die vom Zahn der Zeit doch arg verschmutzte "Schöne Gärtnerin" vor der Redoute angeregt, schickt GA-Leserin Kerstin Rüttgerodt ihr Foto einer ähnlich dunkel gefleckten Statue.
Dem mürrischen Herrn mit dem verdreckten Waschbrettbauch, der sich da nahe dem Rheinauen-Restaurant hinter Büschen räkelt, täte eine Reinigung sicher auch eimal gut. "Obwohl, er würde geputzt auch nicht hübscher", merkt sie dann an. Und es hilft auch nicht, dass der GA auf Bonns größten Sohn mit Sixpack-Brust tippt.
Dieser Ludwig von Beethoven sei ja auch potthässliche Nazikunst, meint ihr Godesheim-Kollege Rolf Wermund und bringt die Statue in Arno-Breker-Nähe. Er habe den Trotzigen mit dem Lendentuch vor vielen Jahren in einem städtischen Bauhof versteckt gesehen.
Des Rätsels Lösung: Der athletische Ludwig wurde von Bildhauer Peter Breuer entworfen, aber erst 1938 als "Reichssache" Adolf Hitlers ausgeführt und am Alten Zoll aufgestellt. Wo er 1949 verschwand und 1977, kurz bevor die Rheinaue die Bundesgartenschau beherbergte, wieder ans Tageslicht kam. Eben verschämt hinter Hecken.
