The Mowry House was built between 1802 and 1805. It is 2 1/2 story post and beam construction, covered with clapboards. Very few changes has been made to the house over the years. The Mowry were some of the first settlers in North Smithfield and thus were a prominent family in the area. Willimam Mowry married and built this house in 1802. William held many town offices and was very active in civic affairs.
