The Lions Club of Northborough has planted a Fraser fir tree in honor of PFC Neil R. Ellsworth who was killed in Vietnam.

A Fraser fir, identified as a Christmas Tree, planted in the center of town is dedicated to Northborough native, PFC Neil R. Ellsworth, who was killed in action while serving in Vietnam in 1967. He was the first man from Northborough who was killed less that two months after arriving in Vietnam. He was 19. He left a wife and a son who was born shortly after his death.
PFC Neil R. Ellsworth served with the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne) died on of wounds received in battle on April 13, 1967 while covering his platoon in a firefight in a dense jungle near Minh Thang in Tay Ninh province.
