Many brands used the oval sign on a pole, could be Standard, Fina, Mobile or another; but it looks like the old glass crown on top of the pump

Much like the small town where I grew up, the general store sold grocerys, meat, grain, hay, and even gas. You pumped yourself (gee! what a novel idea) and came inside and told them what you pumped.
No drive-offs back then...everybody carried and you could get shot, plus you had to live in the town, everybody knew if you did.
Today the old Mercantile is open for the customers it draws from the Katy trail (a state park built on the MKT rail tracks and runs for over 200 miles), bikers (Bicycle) use it a lot. The old mercantile is now a B&B, grocer, restaurant, antique shop...etc....
