Along the Newton-Watertown line is the confluence of Cheesecake Brook with the Charles River.
The confluence is accessible along the Charles River Trail that runs along the length of the river, and from the northern end of Albermarle Road on the Newton side. It is worth a drive along Albemarle Road to view Cheescake Brook, but I'm not sure parking is allowed at the end - this is a residential area. The best parking may be at the Stop and Shop off Pleasant Street in Watertown. There are two entrances to the trail - turn left (east) and walk on the path to the bridge over the river, then take the trail to the right (west to the confluence. You can see the confluence as you walk over the bridge. The waymark is on the south eastern bank, east of the confluence point.
Cheesecake Brook is a mostly urbanized brook that starts near a baseball field in West Newton and runs through back yards and other properties to Albermarle Road where it runs between the lanes of rhe road to the river. This has led some to think that the brook is called Albemarle Brook - not so.
As an urban brook, Cheesecake Brook has challenges typical to urban brooks, including quick rising and falling levels and high algae growth. It is not a major tributary by volume.
Recently, the area has been renovated to improve the quality of the brook.
