The plaque says, "The 600 foot long portion of River Street is all that remains to preserve one of the original Native American Footpaths in the City. Originally a dirt path to Trabuco Creek's water source for the Acjchmen Native Americans and Los Rios Street settles, it is shown on maps from the late 1800s crossing Trabuco Creek and extending about four miles all the way to the ocean at what is now Dana Point."
