The plaque says, "This statue is dedicated to anyone who ever sailed past this point in the service of their country. The Navy, The Marine Corps, The Coast Guard and The Merchant Marines. This Monument is dedicated to the ordinary sailors and marines who sailed away from this place and did their duty."
