Buffalo Soldiers were blacks fighting in Union regiments during the Civil War. After the Civil War, the Buffalo Soldier units became instrumental in clearing the West of hostile Indians. This is the only museum dedicated to their history.

The museum is small, and sometimes drifts into a simple ‘African-Americans in the military’ theme, but the exhibits on the Buffalo Soldiers themselves, the Tuskegee Airmen (a black WWII air force unit), and the forgotten piece of Houston history that was WWI Camp Logan, make it well worth a visit.
