In and arround Weil der Stadt, Germany, Baden-Württemberg, which is the birth place of Johannes Kepler, is a huge solar system model located.
This soloar system model has been created in 2012 by the 'Kepler-Gesellschaft' (Kepler Association). It starts in the center of Weil der Stadt and needs a walk of about 10 km (oneway) to the Neptune outside of the city.
The model uses the clock of the church St. Peter und Paul in the center of the city as sun. The diameter of the clock is 2.5 meters. This gives a scale of 1:557.000.000. A funny thing aside: the earth in this scale is equal to a 1-Euro-Coin.
At every location of the planets exists a big information board about the planet. So there are 9 information boards at all including the sun.
The solar system model can be accessed all the time without any restrictions. There is no fee!
