The artist was inspired by a paraphrased quote from Gandhi, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Sokol wanted to be more specific and more positive because she believes that all people can be good and that there is so much uncovered goodness in this world. Her bright color palette and "doodley" style is a perfect coupling for this quote. These designs are also featured on City of Tempe Library cards, currently available at Tempe Public Library.
Sokol dreams of filling the world with doodles. She is an author, designer, and lettering artist, teaching online workshops through her blog and inspiring others to doodle on the Internet and through her books. Most of her own doodles can be found in her art journals. Sokol currently lives in Tempe with her husband.
The project was funded through the City of Tempe Municipal Arts Fund and Downtown Tempe Authority.
