This chimney is very close to the road (County Route 33) just north of Commings Nature Center. Looks like a house fire took the building. It would be very surprising if the owners rebuilt given how close it is to the road.

Once upon a time, a farmer cleared a little land, put up a little cabin and tapped the sugarbush nearby for maple syrup. Slowly, a community grew up in the hills around the farm, and the wagon track became a paved road. The homestead was abandoned and kids climbed through the broken windows to do whatsoever kids will do, until one day one of them got careless and the shack burned to the ground.
