That folk art would be expressed with cars in a city so automobile-dependent shouldn’t be a great surprise. About a dozen or so art cars are on display at any one time. Amazingly, most of these highly-modified cars are street-legal.

There are three ways to see the bizarrely creative Art Cars in Houston: drive around and happen upon one; be in Houston for the annual Art Car Parade in April; or come to this museum, where the cars rotate in and out on display. Besides the art cars, the six small galleries of this museum also feature rotating exhibits of modern art and two video galleries. But it is the cars that you'll remember.
