The garden is on the old disused St. Mary's cemetery dating from 1823.
In 2005 action was taken to secure a grant to improve the area and is now a quiet well kept garden. Old gravestones have been laid flat alongside the footpaths. An old tree bole has been carved into a figure of a child holding a dove, sculpted by Bryan Proctor.

"A hand crafted sculpture which symbolises peace and hope in the town and features a young boy holding a dove in his hands, was created with the help of a local school, using a diseased Ash tree."
