The town of Chouteau has two city-run cemeteries and each has a similar Bible etching. This one in Chouteau West Cemetery is located near the entrance and consists of a light-colored brick structure about 18 inches high, with a concrete slab. At the center is a stone open Bible flanked by brick walls and stone flower urns. The Bible is approximately four feet high.
The left hand page has a quotation from Matthew 6:9-13 which reads: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
On the facing page is an engraving of praying hands.
