The news article below (Radio-Canada, 12 August 2013) describes the arrival of the book exchanges in Gatineau in August 2013, inspired by the Little Free Library project in America. However, this exchange does not a have a charter number. The web site advertised on the book box is not available in April 2016: http://www.bibliothequeitinerante.com/.

Rue Amherst (Hull, Wright/Parc-de-la-Montagne)
Rue Brodeur (Hull, Wright/Parc-de-laMontagne)
Rue Berri (Hull, Wright/Parc-de-la-Montagne)

Over the past months, seven service points for a new type library have appeared in various districts of Gatineau at the initiative of a citizen. Inspired by the American movement Little Free Library, Natacha Lefebvre installed book boxes, which rely on a concept of free exchange.

Operation is simple. Reading fans can go to one of the seven book boxes installed on private land or organizations. They can take a book and leave another in return, if they wish. People can also report after reading the book, but are not required.

There is no registration or return form and no late fees. The project goal is to make reading more accessible to all.

People pass in front of [the boxes], look at the books, take one. No need to give one right away. If they repass another point, they can put one or two.

Ms. Lefebvre said she hopes to expand the movement in all parts of the city and possibly in Ottawa.

She stressed that the boxes offer a good variety of books, including Dan Brown, Marie Laberge, as well as children's books.

"People are very generous. They give me a lot to fill the boxes," she says.
