The arboretum is located at 715532 County Road 4, on the south side of the large curve in the road between Woodstock and Innerkip (near 16th Line).

Created as a legacy for Oxford residents, the W. Leslie Dickson Arboretum is owned by the Upper Thames Valley Conservation Authority but maintained by Oxford County. A former County Warden, Les Dickson was committed to woodlot management and the preservation of native Canadian trees. Discover this hidden treasure and the beauty of the trees so loved by Les.

There are many species of Carolinian trees in this arboretum and many of them have been labeled for the amateur. There are a great number of varieties of Fraxinus(ash), Quercus(oak) and Acer(maple) that are not seen very often in the surrounding forests. Some Juglans cinerea(butternut) are also present here, a species that is endangered in Ontario.

The parking lot is a large grass area surrounded by cedars just past the gated entrance. In the spring this can be very wet and muddy, and may cause a vehicle to get stuck. Use your own discretion when parking here. During winter the main gate is closed, however you may park on the road and walk in. (no snow removal)
