Child sculpture for Peace Park.
John Behan's bronze sculpture Millennium Child John Behan, has been unveiled by President McAleese outside the Peace Park at Christchurch Place, Dublin. Intended as a collaborative symbol of hope for children and families for the next millennium, the piece was commissioned by the childcare agency Barnardos and supported by Tipperary Crystal.
Dr Thomas Barnardo, founder of the agency, spent his early life in the Christchurch area of Dublin and went to school in nearby St Patrick's Cathedral Grammar School.
The bronze sculpture depicts three children holding hands with the two outer children holding the one in the middle in the air. It is located outside the Peace Park in Dublin and was unveiled on 8th November 2000.
The plaque, at the base of the sculpture, reads:
