The Oregon Trunk Railroad reached Redmond from the north in 1911 and the depot was completed the following year (April 1912) using the same contractor and rock source as the Bend Station. The Redmond Station is an exact twin of the Bend Station. The original location was at Evergreen Avenue and 1st Street (N 44° 16.370’ W 121° 10.153’). In the 2000’s planning was underway for construction of a new route for Hwy. 97 through Redmond and the Depot was in the way. By 2005 the Depot had been taken apart, stone by stone, and reassembled at this location, about 2.4 miles southwest of its original location. About 4000 stones were numbered and photographed and moved to a new location.
