Born in nearby Lockport, NY, Rick James was a well-known funk and soul musician of the late '70s and early '80s. Two of his biggest hite were "Super Freak" and "Give It To Me Baby."
The Buffalo News reported on August 6, 2006, two years to the date of his death, the placement of a gravestone at Forest Lawn. The two ton headstone is 4'-9" high by 4' wide. Inscribed on it is an image of his 1981 hit album Street Songs, which included "Give It to Me Baby" and "Super Freak." Reported cost was $13,000.
