On page 1 of the adventure comic "Tintin in America," Tintin and Snowy arrive in Chicago by passenger train at the hulking Chicago Union Station, and within minutes of stepping into a taxi are kidnapped by the Chicago Crime Syndicate, who have declared that Tintin will not succeed in endangering their criminal enterprises.
While part of the original Union Station concourse that existed at the time of Tintin's story (set in 1931) was demolished in 1968, the massive station building opened in 1925, and was therefore standing at the time of Tintin's adventure. Source: (
