This Grade II* listed church is of late C12th build, altered in the C14th and a north aisle added in c1895. It has the standard west tower to the central aisle, and partial aisles to the chancel built of squared coursed limestone with gritstone dressings. The roofs are slate with decorative ridge tiles.

The clock face is in the third stage of the west tower below the bell openings on the south face and is of a semi-skeletal type placed on a lozenge-shaped mount. This is painted black whilst the Roman numerals, the hour and minute marks, the hands and the building and restoration dates together with initials, are painted a gold colour.
