William M. Braswell was serving as a professional firefighter with the Houston Fire Department and , on his days off, a volunteer firefighter for the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department on May 16, 2014, when he lost his life in the performance of his duty.

"W. . "Mark" Braswell, 43, of Cypress, Texas passed away on May 16, 2014. He was born in Athens, Georgia on June 14th, 1970 to Joe and Sandra Braswell. Mark graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1988 and received an Associate's Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Houston Community College. He married Michelle Braswell in February, 1994.Mark dedicated his life to helping others and his community. This was evident through his 7 years of reserve service in the United States Navy, 23 years of service in Cy- Fair Volunteer Fire Department with 21 simultaneous years in the Houston Fire Department. Mark was a proud and loving father to two amazing children, Matthew Braswell, 13, and Mary Braswell, 9. He is also survived by his brother; Joel Braswell, his mother; Sandra Braswell, and several uncles, nieces and nephews.All services will be at Foundry United Methodist, 8350 Jones Road, Houston Texas, 77065. The visitation will be Tuesday, May 20th from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 21st at 2 pm with a reception immediately following.
