This Memorial Bell and plaque was placed during renovation of the nearby school in the 1990's by the class of 1942 as a rememberance of when the school bell rang, which it did every school day from 1906 to 1960, when a portion of the original high school was torn down for a parking lot and the remaining building became then the Junior high school, later the middle school. In 2015, the remainder of the older portion was razed and the middle school students moved into a modern, new facility combining all K-8 students of the local school district.
The memorial and bell is accessible to street patrons without disturbing school activities.
