The Sheraton Landmark Hotel began construction in 1971 and was completed in November 1973. It remains Vancouver's tallest hotel-only building with 42 floors reaching 120.70 meters.
Topped with a revolving restaurant with great views of the downtown core, the harbour, the North Shore Mountains, and across English Bay and the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island on a clear day.
Each rotation of the restaurant floor takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. It remained Vancouver's only revolving restaurant until 1977 when Harbour Centre was finished.
About 2000 Sheraton sold the property to Hong Kong based Asia Standard International Group. However, many Vancouverites continue to refer to the building as the Sheraton Landmark instead of its current name, the Empire Landmark Hotel.
