Section 1 of the Metacomet-Monadnock, M-M, Trail is 2.3 miles long. The southbound trail starts at Route 57 at the Agawawam/Southwick border and ends at the MA/CT state line at Rising Corner in Agawam.

The Metacomet-Monadnock, M-M, Trail is a 114 mile long hiking trail that extends from the Massachusetts/Connecticut border in Agawam, MA and to the top of Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire. This 2.3 mile, southbound, section of the M-M Trail starts at Route 57 in Agawam and follows the Provin Mountain ridge line until it reaches MA/CT state line at Rising Corner in Agawam. The trail is marked by white rectangular blazes.

The trailhead is located off the south side of Route 57 at the driveway entrance to the Agawam Bowmen's Club. Parking is available at the trailhead in a wide clearing just before entering the Agawam Bowmen's Club property. A sign on metal post identifies the beginning of the trail and informs you to stay on the trail as you are entering private property. You keep to the west side of the Agawam Bowmen's Club property and soon climb to the top of a ridge along a wide jeep track.
