Trail 234 takes you up to the southeastern most edge of the Comanche Peak Wilderness Area. The trail is relatively un-eventful but snow can remain on the trail well into late June as the elevation approaches 9,500 feet at its peak and edge of the wilderness area.
Trail is narrow in spots due to the growth of the trees and can brush against the side of your vehicle, even narrow jeeps.
Chainsaw or hand saw is a must, and vehicle winch is a good ideas as well to clear the trail. Multiple trips on this trail after wind storms yield trees down almost every trip out.
This trail is also a known short cut to park at visit the nearby crashed "pingree B-17."
Trail is open year round, but impassable most of the winter due to deep snow. Also an excellent snowshoe or cross country ski trip in the winter!
There are multiple dispersed camping areas along the trail, I counted 7 well established sites with easy parking for 2-3 vehicles each.
