The three lime kilns are an industrial and national monument.
It was built in mid 19th century and was last used in 1966.
Previously burned lime shell in the oven. The ovens were stoked with peat. With ships was supplied via the Drenthe Hoofdvaart, shells and peat. The extensive history is beside the restaurant told through a computer.
The monumental building was the mid-nineties refurbished to a special restaurant. One lime kiln has remained in its original state. The other two are furnished and used as special eatery.
