I started geocaching in March 2009 after my sister mentioned it. Since then, I've found over 5000 caches in 8 countries on 3 continents. Some of my most memorable adventures include:
- Finding a cache in Namibia on a dry clay pan among 900-year-old dead Acacia trees surrounded by 300+ metre sand dunes in the oldest desert in the world
- Finding a cache over 16000 kms from home in South Africa
- Finding both (at the time) of the caches in the Vatican City State, clearing out an entire sovereign nation state
- Attending the last Geocaching Block Party at Geocaching Headquarters, finding the Project APE tribute cache (I found the original previously) and finding the Original Stash as my 5000th find to complete the Geo-Triad, all in a whirlwind three day period
- Volunteering at the two local Mega Events and attending three others in Alberta and Washington
- Driving the Valley Link Highway between Cowichan Lake and Port Alberni, finding 120 caches in a day
- Driving up to the Red Creek Fir, the largest Douglas Fir in the world, east of Port Renfrew
Most of my geocaching happens on the southern portion of Vancouver Island, but I'd happily go somewhere else if given an excuse. I generally go out geocaching with TheG-Force, but we'd be happy to have some company. Maybe together we can make a plan come together and add some outstanding adventures to the list above!
