This caboose was originally built in 1914 as a Canadian Pacific 36-foot boxcar. It was later converted to a caboose and operated on the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, which was renamed the British Columbia Railway in 1972. On November 5, 1983, the caboose was disposed as surplus and made available to the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society.
