Guajara is the third highest peak on the Canary Island of Tenerife. It is a noteworthy climb to 2778 m, over 9000 ft on my GPS. The views across to Teide, the highest peak on the island, are spectacular.

This hike up from the Parador and the Roques de Garcia was our best hike on Tenerife. The climb is about 600 m (2000 ft) but the elevation is significant. There is a partial shelter at the summit with a window viewing Teide. This summit was the site for the first astronomical observatory in the Canary Islands and demonstrated the clarity of the air, the excellent seeing, at this elevation above the clouds.
